Let's discuss your project

Bespoke: size, colour, finish

Theatres understood it long ago: a stage is only as good as its lighting desk. Lux brings the same logic to the front-of-house. In the counter designed by Gianantonio Perin and Monica Fernandes for Bralco — the house of the Arche executive desk —, the steel supports of the shelves carry low-voltage LEDs at 4000 K, softened by plexiglas into a continuous perimeter glow — and a row of dimmable buttons works as the console. Side buttons cue the side LEDs; the central one runs the centre lights and the horizontal blade below. Morning arrival, evening event: each gets its own scene.

The stagecraft sits on sober carpentry. Fronts and legs in thick melamine are mitred at 45 degrees with steel joints; a chrome-effect aluminium plinth with adjustable feet grounds the whole; widths run in three modular spans from 140 to 400 cm, and the sit-stand version rises on a three-stage electric column. The shelf tops at 111.2 cm come in melamine, wood veneer edged in solid timber, or glass-ceramic — a ceramic sheet bonded to glass, bevelled at 45 degrees on every side.

Backstage is equally rehearsed: top access units with sockets and USB A/C, a fabric cable vertebra, lockable drawer units that double as anti-tip ballast, antibacterial melamine surfaces. La Mercanti scripts each Lux composition on a dimensioned drawing — spans, shelves, light zones — confirmed in writing before the order. Opening night deserves a rehearsal.

FAQ

How does the zoned lighting on the Lux counter work?
A tray between the steel supports holds dimmable buttons: the side buttons cue the side LEDs, the central one runs the centre LEDs and the horizontal blade along the lower edge. Intensity is adjustable, so the same counter plays a bright morning and a soft evening.
Who designed the Lux reception system?
Gianantonio Perin and Monica Fernandes, for Bralco's RE.AC reception line. The manufacturer sums the project up in one line: light and minimalism for an elegant welcome.
What is the glass-ceramic shelf made of?
A 0.6 cm ceramic sheet bonded to a 0.6 cm glass pane, bevelled at 45 degrees on all sides — ceramic toughness on top, glass clarity below. Melamine and wood-veneer shelves with solid edges are the alternatives.
Can Lux serve a very wide lobby?
Yes — widths are modular across three spans, 140÷200, 220÷280 and 320÷400 cm, with shelves in 80, 120 and 160 cm elements hooked wherever the composition needs them. La Mercanti confirms the dimensioned drawing in writing before production.
Is there somewhere to charge devices at the counter?
The aluminium top access takes socket blocks with USB A and USB C alongside mains outlets, while fabric vertebrae and risers keep the cabling out of sight below the top.

Lighting a front-of-house: five cues from Lux

How to plan a reception counter the way a stage manager plans a show — spans, scenes and a written running order.

Block the stage
Choose the span for the room — 140÷200, 220÷280 or 320÷400 cm — from the floor plan and the flow of arrivals.
Hang the shelves
Place 80, 120 or 160 cm elements where documents and first impressions change hands; pick melamine, veneer or glass-ceramic per zone.
Write the light cues
Decide what each button does: side LEDs for presence, centre and lower blade for the full scene, dimmed levels for morning and evening.
Rig the services
Top access with USB A/C on the counter, vertebrae and risers below; the 120 and 160 shelves carry a dedicated tray for the client's own cabling.
Call the show in writing
Close with a dimensioned drawing of composition, finishes and light zones, confirmed in writing before the order goes to production.
