Every project has a fil rouge — a red thread that holds the story together. On this workstation it is not a metaphor: Fil Rouge by Las Mobili, designed by 967 Arch, runs a decorative red PVC profile along the two user sides of the bench frame, a thin signature line that tells you, at a glance, that someone actually drew this desk. Under the line, the construction is just as deliberate: a perimeter frame and crosspieces in painted extruded aluminium, and round vertical legs in Ø 40 mm metal tube, 3 mm thick, on grey nylon levelling feet.

Where most operative desks are grey by default, Fil Rouge is planted in colour: tops in eight finishes including Moss Green, Sage and Stone Grey next to Niagara Oak, the poplars, Black and White — and the metal structure in Moss Green, Green, Matt Black, White or Stone Grey. Benches come with an equippable central bar and two ways to reach the cables: sliding tops with a 96 mm excursion on under-top runners, or a 90° flap top-access hinged directly on the bar, both sealed by black dust brushes. Four-seat benches add a 61 mm central side with removable sheet-metal infills and two inspection holes.

A workstation built around the person

The central bar carries a small ecosystem: object and paper holders, a revolving monitor arm — mechanical spring, no gas, up to 7 kg, cables hidden inside — and a LED lamp with occupancy sensor and touch dimming (10-year warranty declared by the manufacturer). Acoustics sit right on the desk: 38 mm sound-absorbing front screens, certified as declared by the manufacturer, in Gabriel fabrics, with hook-on pen holder and metal blackboard. Even storage is human: pedestals on wheels arrive assembled, with an exclusive-design zamak handle — and an optional cushion that turns them into a guest seat. FAQ

Where is the red thread in Fil Rouge — is it just a name?

It is physical. Along the two user sides of the bench frame, 967 Arch inserted a decorative red PVC profile: a thin line that runs the length of the workstation and gives the collection its name and its signature. It is the kind of detail that photographs like graphic design but costs nothing in function — the frame around it is extruded aluminium, the legs are round Ø 40 mm tube on levelling feet, and the line simply makes the engineering visible.

Why does the aluminium frame with round legs matter?

Because it changes the desk's weight — visually and literally. Extruded aluminium profiles form the perimeter frame and crosspieces, and Ø 40 mm round tube legs replace the usual squared posts: the workstation reads lighter, friendlier, less industrial. It also changes the palette logic: the structure comes in Moss Green, Green, Matt Black, White or Stone Grey, so the metal is a colour decision, not a default grey.

How do you reach the cables on a Fil Rouge bench?

Two ways, both engineered into the central bar. Sliding tops glide 96 mm on under-top runners — push the worktop and the cable bay opens along the whole bench. Or specify the 90° flap top-access, hinged directly on the bar with coextruded plastic hinges. In both cases black dust brushes let cables pass with the tops closed, trays in 1 mm sheet metal hang on Ø 30 mm supports under the bar, and four-seat benches add a 61 mm central side with removable infills and two inspection holes.

What can the central bar actually carry?

A small ecosystem, all from the price list: object and paper holders on Ø 28 mm vertical tubes, a monitor/lamp support in turned steel, a revolving monitor arm with mechanical spring — no gas — that takes screens up to 7 kg with ±13 cm of height adjustment and cables hidden inside the arm, and a LED lamp with occupancy sensor, touch dimming, CRI above 92 and a 10-year warranty declared by the manufacturer. The desk surface stays empty; the third level works.

What makes the storage different from any drawer unit?

Three details. The construction shows a deliberate 8 mm coupling edge — a visible signature, not a hidden joint. The handle is an exclusive design in painted zamak, matched to the fronts in Oak, Moss Green, Stone Grey, Black or White. And the pedestal on wheels arrives assembled and takes an optional cushion — 30 mm foam on masonite, Gabriel fabrics — turning it into the guest seat every open space is short of. Samples of fabrics and finishes are available; their cost is fully credited when the order is confirmed.

How to design an operative workstation people actually like

For office managers and designers: five Fil Rouge decisions that make the open space more human without losing order.

Start from the palette, not the layout

Fil Rouge is planted in colour: eight top finishes — Moss Green, Sage and Stone Grey beside Niagara Oak, poplars, Black and White — and five structure colours. Choose two combinations per floor and let the red PVC profile be the constant that ties rooms together: that is the fil rouge doing its job.

Put the acoustics on the desk, not on the ceiling

The 38 mm sound-absorbing front screens — certification declared by the manufacturer — mount under the front edge with black matt brackets and dress the desk in Gabriel fabrics. Add the hook-on pen holder and metal blackboard: the screen becomes a working wall, not just a divider.

Equip the third level

Lift what you can off the worktop and onto the central bar: monitor arm with mechanical spring (up to 7 kg, cables inside), LED lamp with occupancy sensor and touch dimming, object and paper holders. An empty desk surface is the cheapest productivity upgrade there is.

Choose your cable gesture: slide or flap

Sliding tops open 96 mm along the whole bench — best where IT touches the bay often. The 90° flap top-access on the central bar is the more architectural gesture for meeting-heavy teams. Both keep dust brushes sealing the gap when closed; trays and climbing kits (ABS rings or magnetic risers) finish the route to the floor.

Approve samples, then freeze the specification

Melamine, painted aluminium and Gabriel fabrics all shift under real lighting: approve physical samples on site — the cost is fully credited when the order is confirmed. Then fix in writing tops, structure colour, bench compositions, top-access type and screen fabrics.
