Bespoke: size, colour, finish

Every office runs on four tables — the workstation, the bench, the team table, the meeting table. 5th Element by Las Mobili, designed by Studio Si, is named after the thing that holds them together: one structural DNA. Legs in trapezoidal-section drawn steel, 58 x 50 mm, 2 mm thick — bridge or inclined gantry — carry beams of 50 x 15 mm whose coupling screws disappear under moulded ABS carters. No visible hardware, one recognisable profile, from the first desk to the hundredth.

What makes the family rare in this category is how far it stretches: the same language builds single desks and shared desking-bench, team tables H 105 with a chromed footrest beam for stand-up work, meeting tables — and executive desks with chromed loop legs and a 10 mm rear-lacquered tempered glass top on turned stainless supports (Black, Grey Beige, White). The person who gets promoted keeps the same design language; the floor keeps its coherence. Tops come in eight finishes, and every panel is Class E1 low-formaldehyde, as declared by the manufacturer — a detail worth asking about when a desk fleet fills a whole floor of air.

The bench thinks in one bar

Bench tops carry a central extruded aluminium bar with hinged tip-up top accesses: cable brush, and a magnet that locks onto the frontal sound-absorbing panels — open, reach any point of the substructure, click shut. Central shared legs (50 x 50 mm) take an optional inspectable WIRE MANAGER panelling; trays hang from the beams; PC-tower service units work freestanding or as structural desk supports. Pedestals on wheels arrive assembled, with pivoting colour-matched handles and an optional Gabriel-fabric cushion that turns them into a guest seat. FAQ

Why is it called 5th Element?

Because the office already has its four elements — workstation, bench, team table, meeting table — and this family supplies the fifth: the structure that binds them. One trapezoidal drawn-steel leg (58 x 50 mm, 2 mm), one beam system with ABS carters hiding every coupling screw, one palette across all four typologies. Specify the whole floor from one chapter of the catalogue and every room still speaks the same language.

Can the same collection really follow someone from the open space to the corner office?

That is its rarest trick. The operative range runs on painted bridge or gantry legs; the executive desks take the same trapezoidal geometry, offer CHROMED bridge or loop legs and a 10 mm rear-lacquered tempered glass top — Black, Grey Beige or White — resting on turned stainless supports. A promotion changes the finish, not the design language, and the floor plan keeps one coherent line from bench to corner office.

Bridge legs or inclined gantries — what actually changes?

The silhouette and the character of the room. The trapezoidal bridge leg reads technical and grounded — the classic benching stance. The inclined gantry leg in extruded steel gives the same tops a lighter, drawn, almost trestle-like profile that suits studios and creative floors. Both carry the same 50 x 15 mm beams and the same accessories, so the choice is aesthetic, not functional — and both hide their screws under ABS carters.

How does the bench handle cables and acoustics together?

With one gesture. The central extruded aluminium bar carries hinged tip-up top accesses with a cable brush — open them anywhere along the bench and the whole substructure is reachable — and a magnet that locks the flap onto the frontal sound-absorbing panels. Below: trays on the beams, optional WIRE MANAGER panelling on the 50 x 50 mm shared legs, and hanging PC-tower holders. Power, order and quiet share the same spine.

Is there anything behind the E1 claim, and what about storage?

Every panel in the family is declared by the manufacturer as Class E1 low formaldehyde — worth noting when dozens of desks share one floor's air. Storage follows the same logic of doing double duty: service units and PC towers stand freestanding or become structural supports for the desks; pedestals arrive assembled on braked wheels with colour-matched pivoting handles, and take a Gabriel-fabric cushion that turns them into the guest seat. Samples of finishes and fabrics are available; their cost is fully credited when the order is confirmed.

How to specify one desk family for a whole growing office

For office managers and A&D teams: five 5th Element decisions that keep every floor — and every promotion — in the same language.

Map all four tables before choosing any

List where you need single desks, shared bench runs, team tables H 105 for stand-up work and meeting tables. 5th Element covers all four from one structural chapter — plus the executive desk above them — so the map becomes one order, not five suppliers.

Choose the leg per room, not per catalogue

Trapezoidal bridge legs for the operative floor, inclined gantries where you want a lighter, drawn profile, chromed bridge or loop legs with the 10 mm glass top for direction. Same beams, same carters, same palette — Silver, Matt Black, White, Stone Grey.

Build the cable spine into the bar

On bench runs, specify the central aluminium bar with tip-up top accesses — brush, magnet lock onto the acoustic panels — and add WIRE MANAGER panelling on shared legs where the floor power rises. Hang trays on the beams; let service units double as desk supports next to PC-heavy seats.

Plan the huddle points

A team table H 105 with its chromed footrest turns a corner of the floor into a standing meeting point; a cushion on a wheeled pedestal turns any desk into a two-seat conversation. Both come from the same order form as the desks.

Approve samples, then freeze the specification

Melamine, painted steel, chrome and glass read differently under your lighting: approve physical samples on site — the cost is fully credited when the order is confirmed. Then fix in writing tops, leg type per area, structure colour, top-access positions and fabrics.
