Most product pages say «sustainable». The E-Place page on the DVO site does something rarer: it lists the LEED credits the collection contributes to, by code. EAP2, EAC2, MRC3, MRC5, EQC2, EQC4 and ID1, with the greenITop reference beside them. For an architect chasing a certification on a London fit-out, those seven codes are the difference between a logo and a line that can be entered in the scorecard.

Underneath the paperwork sits a plain, well-built system of operative desks for the office designed by Gianantonio Perin and Giorgio Topan. A 25 mm (1 in) melamine top with a 2 mm (0.08 in) ABS edge rests on two trestle legs in epoxy-coated steel, 74 cm (29.1 in) high, in widths from 80 to 200 cm (31.5 to 78.7 in). The same frame carries in-line desks, a return on a supporting pedestal, bench desking in three depths with or without a central cable rail, a low service unit to hang the desk on, a 90° curved link and meeting tables, rectangular, square or round, with radiused corners. GREENGUARD, CARB Phase 2, FSC, WELL v2, FEMB Level 3 and UNI EN 527 complete the declared list.

La Mercanti sends the E-Place quotation with the certification documents already attached, downloaded from DVO's own product page and filed under the credit each one supports, so the sustainability consultant can enter them in the scorecard without asking for anything else.

FAQ

Is the modesty panel on E-Place a flat board?
No, it is shaped: an 18 mm (0.7 in) melamine panel cut to a trapezoid, 38 cm (15 in) high, fixed left or right under the top. Two widths cover the range, 110 cm (43.3 in) for desks of 140 and 160 and 140 cm (55.1 in) for desks of 180 and 200, so the panel never runs the full width of the top.
What are the E-Place legs made of?
Each trestle is a horizontal rectangular tube of 60 × 40 mm (2.4 × 1.6 in) in 1.5 mm (0.06 in) steel, joined to two vertical uprights pressed from 1.5 mm sheet steel with a section that changes along their height. Everything is epoxy powder-coated and stands on polyethylene levelling feet with 15 mm (0.6 in) of travel.
Can two E-Place desks meet at an angle?
Yes, through the 90° two-way curved link, a quarter-round top that joins two 80 cm (31.5 in) deep desks into an L. The link takes the same melamine finish as the desks and rests on the trestle structure, so the corner reads as one continuous surface.
Which storage hangs directly under the E-Place top?
Two pieces: a metal drawer with lock, 32.5 × 52 cm (12.8 × 20.5 in) and only 7 cm (2.8 in) high, for keys, cards and a laptop charger; and a two-drawer melamine pedestal of 33 × 54 × 35 cm (13 × 21.3 × 13.8 in). Both are hung from the underside, leaving the floor under the trestle clear.
What does «in-line connectable» mean on the E-Place list?
It is a separate code for a desk or bench designed to be joined to the next one in a row, sharing the line without a gap. La Mercanti counts the workstations on the plan and tells you how many single and how many in-line codes the row requires.

How to see E-Place before you order it

E-Place is a system of nine desk sizes, three bench depths and a dozen finishes: the way to look at it in three dimensions, in a showroom or on your own screen, before the purchase order goes out.

Ask La Mercanti where E-Place is on display
La Mercanti tells you which DVO showrooms and partner spaces currently show E-Place desks and benches, and books the visit on your behalf.
Bring the plan of the room
Take the floor plan with the number of workstations: on site you can compare the 65 and 80 cm (25.6 and 31.5 in) depths of E-Place and decide which the room can afford.
Sit at the bench
Try the facing tops with and without the central rail and open the flip doors: the difference between the three bench depths is easier to feel than to read.
Check finishes in daylight
Ask to see the E-Place tops and legs near a window; grey, umber and matt black change a great deal between showroom light and office light.
Get the 3D model as well
If travel is not possible, La Mercanti sends the E-Place configuration from pCon.planner as rendered views, so the meeting can be held at your desk.
