Look at Attiva from the floor up and one shape keeps returning. The Ponte and Anello supports are made of triangular steel tube, 50 mm (2 in) across, chromed or painted white. The Cosmo sofas stand on feet shaped as a triangular prism in chromed metal. The Cosmo armchairs carry a triangular insert in polished stainless steel on the back. Codutti never names the motif in the catalogue; it simply repeats it, and after a few pages you notice that the workstation, the waiting sofa and the meeting chair belong to the same drawing.
Around that geometry sits an office programme of some size: desks 180, 200 or 220 cm (70 7/8, 78 3/4 or 86 5/8 in) wide on four different supports, tops in ash, matt lacquer, melamine or 10 mm (3/8 in) back-lacquered glass, meeting tables from a round Ø 120 cm (47 1/4 in) to an elliptical 520 cm (204 3/4 in), extensions with sliding doors, bookcases with glass shelves, cabinets up to 282 cm (111 in) high. The catalogue calls it an entry-level executive programme and Codutti's site files it under operative furniture; both are true. La Mercanti specifies Attiva for UK offices where the desk, the sofa in reception and the chair in the boardroom should share one line, and confirms the leg finish on each item before the order goes to Codutti.
