A Savile Row suit wastes less cloth than a cheap one — because it is made for one body. Kata brings that logic to seating: its 3D knit fabric is declared designed specifically for this chair, technologically conceived to adapt to the seat stem and reduce material waste to a minimum. The yarns themselves are post-consumer recycled polyester, processed into lightweight, durable fibres; the knit comes micro-padded with a graphic pattern, or striped for the version that lives outdoors. Nothing generic, nothing cut to fit later: the fabric is born in the shape of the seat.

Around that tailoring, the collection designed by Altherr Désile Park (2021) keeps its range wide: Arper's first solid wood lounge chair in oak or robinia, and the Kata Chair on four legs with a wooden or upholstered shell. Waiting areas and reception first — then lounge, hospitality, contract, collaborative work and the home office. For UK projects, La Mercanti matches versions to rooms, with delivery times confirmed in writing at order confirmation.

FAQ

What is the difference between Kata Lounge and Kata Chair?
The Lounge is the low armchair with a solid wood frame and knitted shell; the Chair sits on four legs with a plywood shell, wooden or upholstered. One family, two postures for the same room.
Which timbers does the frame come in?
Solid oak in natural or black stained finish, or solid robinia stained teak — the robinia version is the one declared for outdoor use.
Is Kata rated for non-domestic use?
The sheet references EN 16139 for non-domestic seating: Level L1 covers general use — offices, showrooms, public halls, restaurants, banks and bars — with L2 for extreme settings.
Can cushions be added later?
Yes: the Lounge takes an optional seat-and-lumbar set, in graphic 3D knit for indoors or in fabric, leather and coated fabric for indoor and outdoor; the Chair takes an optional seat cushion.
Is this really Arper's first solid wood lounge chair?
So the manufacturer declares, in writing: Kata marks the company's debut in solid wood for lounge seating — oak and robinia, within an FSC-certified chain.
