Bespoke: size, colour, finish

ICF gave the Pyla data sheet a title that reads like a promise: «Responsive Work Seating». The chair earns it by listening rather than being told — an adaptive lumbar element that tensions the back as you move it, a synchronised mechanism offered in a self-calibrating version, seat depth that adjusts from the seated position. A premium ergonomic chair, in the maker's own words, for professional and modern working environments alike.

The response comes in three dresses: Pyla Mesh with breathable 3D or two-tone elastic mesh, Pyla Fabric with its suspended ribbed cover in fabric or leather, and Pyla Soft, fully upholstered while keeping breathability and elasticity. Around the task versions, the family widens: the Cantilever for visitors and meetings, the Quattro on four castored legs, and a stool version at counter height — managerial desks, meeting rooms and reception points in one language. La Mercanti supplies the range worldwide with samples ahead of the order.

FAQ

What sets the auto-fit mechanism apart from the standard one?
The standard synchronised tilt is tuned by hand with a knob and locks in four positions plus upright. The auto-fit version calibrates its resistance automatically on the user's weight, keeps an extra knob for personal fine-tuning and offers optional forward tilt — useful wherever one chair serves many.
How does the lumbar support actually work?
It is a height-adjustable element with a 6 cm (2.4 in) run that automatically increases the tension of the back membrane where it sits — so the support comes from the surface itself, not from a pad pressing the spine.
Which certificate covers which version?
Pyla Mesh is declared EN 1335-1:2020 level B and tested to ANSI-BIFMA X5.1; Cantilever and Quattro fall under EN 16139:2013 level 1. Fire class 1 IM applies to the Mesh with Atlantic/Rhythm, Atlantic/Runner and Relax Flex coverings, and to the Soft with Sotega.
Can the seat depth be changed without standing up?
Yes — a lever under the seat adjusts the depth over a 6 cm (2.4 in) range from the seated position, on top of the 12 cm (4.7 in) gas lift to EN 16955:2017.
Is there a version for counters and standing-height desks?
The stool version: same synchronised auto-fit mechanism and adjustable lumbar support, seat rising from 57 to 73 cm (22.4–28.7 in), five-star base with footrest — the full ergonomics of the task chair, raised to counter height.

Planning a Pyla floor from desk to reception

Five steps distribute the Pyla family across an office floor — workstations, meeting rooms, counters and visitors.

Map the sitting hours first
Give the long desks the task versions with adjustable lumbar support; short-stay rooms take the visitor members of the family.
Choose each back by climate and dress code
Breathable mesh where air matters, the suspended cover where texture matters, the fully upholstered back where the room must feel dressed.
Assign the visitor chairs
Steel-tube seats for meeting rows, the four-leg version where chairs must roll between rooms, and the stool where people perch at counters.
Keep one finish language
Polished, chromed, white, black or grey — one code across structures and bases keeps operative and reception areas in the same picture.
Close on samples and quantities
La Mercanti sends mesh, fabric and leather samples with dimensional sheets; confirm on material, then take one consolidated delivery.
