Executive chairs usually announce their engineering: exposed plates, visible arms, a black plastic housing under the seat. Musa Chair takes the opposite decision, and ICF states it plainly — all the structural elements and the tilting mechanism are hidden inside a shell of flexible foamed polyurethane, available in premium fabric or leather. The steel tubing and sections that carry the load are there; you simply never see them.

What is left to look at is a shape: closed armrests that flow into the seat, a die-cast aluminium ring that draws the outline, seams that follow the form rather than interrupt it. It is a quieter proposition than the usual director's chair, and a more durable one, because the parts that get scuffed on an exposed mechanism are simply not exposed. Three backrest heights — Low Back for the meeting version, High Back, With Headrest — cover the room hierarchy without changing the language. La Mercanti supplies the collection internationally, with samples reviewed before the order is confirmed.

FAQ

Where is the mechanism on this chair?
Inside. ICF states that all structural elements and the tilting mechanism are concealed within a flexible foamed polyurethane shell. The internal frame is steel tubing and sections; the controls reach the user as a lever and a knob, and nothing else is on show.
Does hiding the mechanism cost anything in function?
No adjustment is given up. The height-adjustable codes have 13 cm of travel from a pneumatic unit, the tilting codes allow up to 16 degrees with the pivot set well forward of the gas column, and the same lever locks the tilt in five positions and engages the safety lock.
What is the aluminium ring for?
It is where the armrests meet the seat. Partly padded and upholstered, it defines the outline of the chair and is described by the manufacturer as the visually striking element of the collection — the detail people notice from across a room.
Which version suits a boardroom rather than a desk?
A fixed-height version on a four-star base with glides stays where it is put, which is what a boardroom usually wants. At a desk, the height-adjustable or tilting codes on a five-star base make more sense.
What is the chair certified to?
EN 16139:2013 level 1 is declared on the technical sheet, and the user manual states conformity to UNI EN 16139 level 1 for visitor and community chairs and armchairs.

How to read an executive chair before buying it

Five checks that tell design from decoration.

Look under the seat
Exposed plates and housings age faster than a closed shell.
Follow the armrest to the seat
On Musa it flows into a die-cast aluminium ring.
Ask what the frame is made of
Here: steel tubing and sections under the foam.
Check the pivot position
Set forward of the column to relieve the thighs.
