The most elegant technology statement a desk can make in 2026 is silence about having any. Eidos keeps a screen the way a good tailor keeps a pocket: invisibly. Press a button and an ultra-thin 18.5-inch motorized LCD monitor rises from the top and tilts toward you, ready for the desktop or laptop; press again and it sinks away behind a brushed aluminium cover, leaving nothing but dark rosewood and leather. Guests see a table. You know better.

The design is Ferruccio Laviani's third act for i4Mariani — declared «in continuity with Euclideo and Cartesiano» — drawn in 2026 as a deliberately transversal piece: modern executive desk, meeting table, «or a fully-fledged dining table». One size only, 320 by 120 centimetres, a 3 cm blade of a top on a trapezoid base clad in saddle leather or lacquered in any leather colour of the PS and PF collections.

Below deck, the discretion continues: two drawers with pen holder and saddle-leather bottoms, two doors opening the technical compartment, two electrical boxes flush in the top. Standard veneer is dark brown stained rosewood. La Mercanti configures the monitor option and finishes at order stage for UK projects, with schedules and drawings supplied with the quotation.

FAQ

Where does the Eidos monitor go when it is not in use?
Straight down into the top: the motorized mechanism lowers the ultra-thin 18.5-inch LCD until a brushed aluminium cover closes flush over it. The desk returns to being rosewood and leather — no arm, no bracket, no black rectangle claiming the room's attention.
Is the rising screen practical for daily video calls?
Yes — one press raises and tilts the monitor into position, ready to connect to a desktop or laptop; the movement is motorized and quiet by design. Two flush electrical boxes keep power and cables at hand, and the technical compartment behind the base doors hosts the rest.
Can Eidos serve as a boardroom or dining table as declared?
That is its brief: i4Mariani conceives it as a transversal piece — desk, meeting table or fully-fledged dining table — and the single 320 by 120 format is sized for all three. The same object can chair a negotiation at noon and a dinner at eight.
Which finishes does the 2026 collection offer?
Dark brown stained rosewood veneer as standard — other veneers on request — or a top covered in saddle leather; the base comes in saddle leather or lacquered in any leather colour of the PS and PF collections, so wood, hide and lacquer share one palette.
How does La Mercanti handle a UK order for Eidos?
We fix the configuration with you — monitor and electrical boxes are factory options, not retrofits — then align delivery with your fit-out. Schedules and drawings accompany the quotation; finish samples are charged and fully credited on order confirmation.

Specifying a screen nobody sees: the Eidos sequence

For UK executives and designers who want technology present but never on display — five decisions from the button to the finish schedule.

Decide the technology at order, not after
The retractable monitor and the two electrical boxes are built into the top at the factory. Specify them with the desk — a sealed rosewood top admits no second thoughts.
Position the desk for the reveal
The monitor rises facing the working side: place Eidos so the screen backs the window and guests face you, not the hardware. The single 320x120 format needs that geometry planned.
Choose the register of the surfaces
All-leather or all-rosewood for rigour; wood top over a lacquered base in a PS/PF leather colour for character. The lacquer palette is drawn from the leather chart, so mixes never clash.
Brief the room for double duty
If Eidos will host meetings or dinners as declared, plan chairs and lighting for both scripts — the table itself already carries them.
Close the schedule before delivery
One size, two tech options, top and base finishes, optional leather writing pad: complete the schedule and La Mercanti locks production and installation dates with your contractor.
