Most desks hide their structure — a beam, a frame, a pedestal that quietly does the work. The Air Desk by LAGO removes the argument: the top sits on tempered glass legs, and there is nothing else. What holds the desk up is the part you look straight through.

The manufacturer describes the result — a modern desk in the plainest sense — as a play of solids and voids, and it changes the room more than the desk: a floor that stays visible reads as larger. Designed by Daniele Lago in 2020, the desk pairs those legs with a top in Wildwood oak or in XGlass.

A desk like this is judged with the sample in hand. Tell us the top and the finish you have in mind: La Mercanti prepares the configuration with LAGO.

How to choose between the two tops on offer

Two surfaces, two working days. Five questions before deciding.

Start from what lands on the desk
Paper and laptops behave differently on timber and on a hard mineral surface.
Think about reflections
A polished finish repeats the ceiling light straight into your eyes.
Consider the daily wipe
One surface forgives spills, the other asks for a habit.
Look at the room's other materials
A second timber in the room competes; a mineral finish rarely does.
Ask for both samples
La Mercanti requests them from LAGO before you commit.
