LAGO treats design as social transformation, not decoration
Ask most furniture brands what design is for and you get a style answer. LAGO gives a different one: design is an instrument of social transformation, a discipline that produces meaning and not only products. The company says it draws scenarios capable of improving the quality of lives, feeding culture and empathy between interiors and the people who inhabit them.
That sounds abstract until you see where it lands: modular, entirely Made in Italy furniture designed for every part of a home and for collective places — hotels, workplaces, restaurants, shops — so a workspace can be furnished with the intelligence usually reserved for a living room. La Mercanti specifies LAGO where a British office wants to feel inhabited rather than equipped, and stays on the project through to installation.

FAQ
Does LAGO handle contract projects?
Through a dedicated arm. LAGO Project is the business unit for B2B work — hospitality, offices, public spaces and residential — covering fixed and loose furniture, cladding, consulting and design, up to full turn-key delivery. It stays involved through every phase, from the quotation to support after completion, and works alongside architecture practices in Italy and abroad.
What materials does LAGO work with?
Its own signatures, mostly. Alongside lacquer and glass the range uses Wildwood — oak given a thermal treatment that makes it highly resistant and impermeable to liquids — and XGlass, available in marble and metal effects and built for wear resistance and easy cleaning. In a workplace, that combination is what lets a domestic-looking piece survive commercial use.
Asking LAGO the sustainability questions that have paperwork behind them
For architects and workplace leads: what is certified, what is a programme, and what belongs on the product page.
Separate the system from the product
ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certify how the company runs health, safety and environment: they are corporate credentials, not product claims.
Ask what the Sustainability Circle actually is
LAGO's own name for its transition towards a conscious, circular and inclusive culture: useful context, not a substitute for a certificate.
Get product data from the product page
If a tender asks for material or emission data, that lives on the article page, not in the company story.
Put the certificates in the file early
Corporate certifications are quick wins in a pre-qualification pack: collect them before the deadline, not during.
Ask La Mercanti what is missing
Where a brand does not declare something, we say so rather than fill the gap with an assumption.
