Some executive furniture tries hard to look historic; the rest tries harder to look new. The New Loop executive desk does neither. IVM's own catalogue calls the line minimal with a vaguely retro accent, and that is precisely its appeal: a 60 mm hollow-core top with the visual weight of a mid-century boardroom piece, carried by a powder-coated aluminium ring leg that lets daylight through. In walnut veneer with the matte bronze frame it reads like something a chartered practice has owned for decades; in direct gloss white lacquer with the black ring it turns entirely contemporary.

The retro accent stays disciplined. Drawer fronts open with Tip-On push mechanisms instead of period handles, the recessed pulls on the storage units are matte black Zamak, and the meeting tables share the same tops and inverted-U aluminium frames, so the whole executive floor speaks one language. Designed by Perin & Topan and produced in Italy by IVM Office, with materials compliant with UNI EN standards and 100% of production CARB 2 certified. Through La Mercanti the composition is settled before ordering, finish by finish, return by return.

FAQ

Is New Loop closer to mid-century or to contemporary design?
Both, by intention. IVM describes the line as minimal with a vaguely retro accent: choose walnut veneer with the matte bronze ring and it leans towards mid-century warmth; choose direct gloss white lacquer with the black ring and it reads fully contemporary. The architecture underneath is identical, so the choice is purely a register.
Which top finishes take the matte bronze frame?
Walnut veneer and dark brown elm laminate only. The gloss white lacquered top is paired exclusively with the matte black ring, by the manufacturer's own matching rule. It is worth deciding the metal first, because the bronze option quietly narrows the palette to the two wood finishes.
Do the storage pieces come without visible handles?
Effectively yes: drawers use Tip-On push opening on concealed slides, doors open by pressure with negative-spring hinges, and where a pull is needed it is a recessed Zamak element in matte black, factory-fitted. Fronts stay flat and quiet, which is much of the line's retro-minimal character.
Can samples of the walnut and elm finishes be reviewed first?
Yes, and it is the sensible route for an executive floor: finish samples are supplied against a charge that is fully credited at order confirmation. Delivery times are confirmed in writing at order confirmation, so the specification is settled on real materials and real dates rather than on a screen.
Where can compliance documents for New Loop be found?
The certificates are downloadable directly from the article page. IVM states materials compliant with UNI EN standards and 100% of production certified to CARB 2 for formaldehyde emissions; any requirement specific to a project or tender is confirmed case by case on the manufacturer's documentation.

Retro on purpose: planning a partner office with New Loop

Five decisions that keep the vaguely retro accent deliberate, from the metal of the ring to the paperwork.

Decide the accent, not the era
Pick the register first: bronze and walnut for the heritage reading, black and gloss white for the contemporary one. New Loop supports both without changing a single component.
Let the ring do the lifting
Keep the desk free-standing so the aluminium ring stays visible; the play of solid and void is the design, and pushing the desk against storage cancels it.
Keep the fronts silent
Specify Tip-On drawers and press-opening doors throughout; one visible handle on the executive floor is one too many once the rest of the line has none.
Match the table to the desk
Order the meeting table in the same top finish and frame colour: the inverted-U legs continue the desk's geometry, and the room stops looking assembled over time.
Confirm finishes the boring way
Review physical samples, with the charge fully credited at order confirmation, and get delivery dates in writing before the specification is signed off.
