Archiutti's catalogue says it without hedging: Ellan was drawn for working environments that digitalisation has dematerialised. Screens got thinner, the files moved to the cloud and the executive office lost most of its objects. The answer of the B+B Associati studio is a modern desk that keeps its weight where it belongs: a frame of 50 × 50 mm iron profiles (2 × 2 in), left as bare iron under a protective coat or powder-coated white, anthracite or black, under a top only 18 mm (0.7 in) thick. What stays on the floor is the part of the office you cannot upload.

Under the meeting tables the same L-shaped profile runs the whole way round, and it comes back as the base of the cabinets or hangs on the wall as an open metal shelf. The desk itself is 190 to 250 cm (74.8 to 98.4 in) long and 90 cm (35.4 in) deep, single or with a side return; a short top of 85 to 125 cm (33.5 to 49.2 in) rests on the 65 cm (25.6 in) bookcase, and the full composition with return and service cabinet fills 250 by 250 cm (98.4 by 98.4 in). Tops in white, anthracite, light oak, Tortona oak or Canaletto walnut melamine, or in black and white Fenix; storage in five heights, high table at 105 cm (41.3 in).

What La Mercanti adds is the other part you cannot upload: a floor plan read against the composition codes before the order, and Ellan delivered to British offices and to any address abroad, with the cost of the finish samples credited back on the order.

How heavy is the Ellan desk when it arrives?
Between 52 and 62 kg (115 and 137 lb) depending on the length, in six packages: the iron frame travels separately from the 18 mm top, so two people carry each package up a staircase without a lift.
How are the edges of the Ellan tops finished?
With an ABS edge on an 18 mm (0.7 in) board and corners rounded to 2 mm (0.08 in): the rim stays soft under the forearm and protects the melamine decor where hands and folders touch it most.
Does the bare iron finish rust?
The Ferro finish is raw iron under a protective coat, chosen when you want the metal to look like metal; the alternative is an epoxy powder coating in white, anthracite or black on the same frame.
Are the wood tops real wood?
No: the tops are an 18 mm wood-based board faced with melamine in light oak, Tortona oak or Canaletto walnut decors, with an ABS edge; the wood look is honest about being a decor, and Fenix is the alternative.
Where do the drawers go on Ellan?
Not under the desk: drawers live in the storage units as a three-drawer module with push opening, ordered in one of six positions inside the bookcase, with a lock available on request.

State the frame finish once
Ellan takes bare iron with protective coat or white, anthracite or black powder coating: choose one finish for the whole office and note it at the top of the file.
Match every top to a finish code

Fix the hand and the drawer position
Compositions with return are right- or left-handed and the three-drawer module of Ellan sits in one of six positions: both go in the file, not in an email afterwards.
