Redesigning a classic is mostly a list of things you refuse to change. When Cea Design returned to Cut — the mixer that opened its catalogue in 1998 — the drawing by architects Mario Tessarollo and Tiberio Cerato had spent more than twenty years proving that a clean section does not date. So Cut Plus keeps the line and renews the part the eye never sees: a new mixing concept in which the temperature, once set, stays where you left it, and a single movement governs the flow of water.

The same discipline shapes the way the collection meets a project. The mixer comes horizontal with the handle on the right or on the left, or vertical where the wall asks for it; the body is AISI 316L stainless steel, satin or polished, with Black Diamond, Bronze, Copper and Light Gold as special finishes. Washbasin, shower, bath and remote controls all follow the same section, so the renewal never breaks the room, nor the tiled wall around it.

La Mercanti supplies Cut Plus internationally and works with architects and private clients drawing in hand, matching configuration and finish to the project before the order is placed.

FAQ

Who designed this collection?
Mario Tessarollo and Tiberio Cerato, the two architects behind the original Cut of 1998, together with Natalino Malasorti, co-founder and art director of CEA Design and a specialist in tap engineering.
Which special finishes are available beyond satin and polished?
Four: Black Diamond, Bronze, Copper and Light Gold, all applied to the AISI 316L stainless steel body. Satin and polished remain the two standard finishes of the collection.
Can the handle sit on the left instead of the right?
Yes. The mixer is offered in a horizontal configuration with the handle on the right or on the left, and in a vertical version — three orientations for the same drawing, chosen on the project.
Does the range work for office and hospitality washrooms?
It is built for exactly that kind of brief: one collection covers washbasin, shower, bath and remote controls, so a representative washroom or a run of hotel bathrooms reads as a single decision rather than an assembly of parts.
Why stainless steel rather than the usual brass?
CEA Design builds its taps in AISI 316L stainless steel as its material of choice: the body is steel through and through, in satin, polished or one of the special finishes.

How to plan a Cut Plus shower wall

From a single column to a built-in system with remote controls: the decisions that shape the shower before the tiler arrives.

Count the functions
Decide whether the project needs the rain head, the hand shower or both. The Cut Plus column CUT20 carries mixer, two-way diverter, built-in hand shower and rain-jet head in one element.
Choose column or components
Where the wall is composed piece by piece, CUT10 provides the mixer group alone, while CUT35 and CUT36 add a diverter for separate outlets.
Consider remote controls
CUT60 and CUT70 move the command away from the water point; CUT70 includes a hand shower. The wall above stays free for the head alone.
Fix the finish early
Satin and polished steel read differently under shower lighting, and the special finishes shift the register again. Decide before the tiles are ordered, not after.
Put it on the drawing
Mark positions and orientation on the executive drawing and have the full list checked, so the Cut Plus wall arrives on site as one coherent order.
