Most taps put their visual weight where the water comes out. Ayla by Cea Design does the opposite: an unusually thin horizontal spout completes a wider vertical body, and it is precisely the slimmest part of the object that does the actual work. CEA calls it an uncompromising technique, and it shows — drawing a blade of steel that carries water takes more engineering than drawing a thick one.
The collection was designed by Yabu Pushelberg and takes its profile from the I-beam, softened by beveled edges that the studio treats as both a visual and a tactile decision. The material is AISI 316L stainless steel, in satin or polished finish, with four special CEA finishes: Black Diamond, Bronze, Copper and Light Gold.
Ayla covers the whole bathroom without changing its voice: five washbasin and bidet families, thermostatic groups for shower and bath, a rim-mounted bathtub set, separate spouts, a hand shower, and one of the widest families of remote controls in the CEA catalogue, wall-mounted and deck-mounted. For a project where the washroom has to match the standard of the boardroom, the thin line is the point.
