Take away the drawer unit, the finishes, the leather, and what remains of Nasdaq is a single decision: a steel leg that, in the maker's own words, «cuts through space with a decisive diagonal». Everything else in this designer desk answers to that line — the wooden drawer unit that rests on it, the top that spans it, the shadow it throws on the floor at four in the afternoon.
Cattelan Italia builds the leg in embossed lacquered steel — graphite, titanium or bronze — and paints structure and drawer unit to match, so the geometry reads as one gesture rather than three parts. A leather pad marks the working area on the top, in twenty-one catalogue colours.
Two sizes, 215x100 and 260x120 cm, and two souls: the original in Canaletto walnut, Heritage oak or open-pore black elm, and the Keramik version with a ceramic top. La Mercanti follows British executive projects from the finish board to the installed room.
