Every executive desk collects the same evidence over the years: hairline scratches around the laptop, a dull patch where the phone slides. On Hito, IVM answers with chemistry rather than caution — the FENIX tops used across the range can thermally self-heal micro-scratches, shrug off fingerprints and keep reflection so low the colour reads deep even under spotlights. It is an Italian-made surface designed to look new on the day the desk stops being new.

The design is by Robin Rizzini — trained in Antonio Citterio's Milan office, formerly design partner at Metrica, Compasso d'Oro winner in 2014 — and Hito, a designer desk through and through, marks his first collaboration with IVM. His brief to himself was an executive office where the person, not the furniture, holds the room: legs of press-formed steel foamed in BayDur60 polyurethane, a 30 mm top in Canaletto walnut, eucalyptus or lacquer, and a motorised option whose four columns rise in silent unison.

Around the desk, the system builds the whole floor: meeting tables square and round, credenzas at 73.5 or 146.5 cm with doors shaped down to a 9 mm visible edge, and an upholstered bench in Ecopelle or IVM fabrics. Materials comply with UNI EN standards and carry CARB 2 certification across 100% of production — the paperwork a fit-out project actually asks for, ready before anyone asks.

FAQ

How does the self-healing FENIX top on Hito actually work?
FENIX is an Italian-made high-tech surface whose micro-scratches can be repaired thermally — gentle heat restores the matt finish. Day to day it also resists fingerprints and reflects very little light, so the five Collection 024 colours keep their depth under office lighting instead of turning glossy and tired.
Is the motorised Hito quiet enough for a directors' floor?
Yes — the four columns run on invisible internal sliding bearings with soft start and stop, moving in strict synchrony. Anti-collision sensors halt the top if anything blocks it, in either direction, and the control box idles at 0.1 W. It behaves like a piece of furniture, not a machine.
Which wood finishes does the Hito range offer?
Two veneers, black Canaletto walnut and eucalyptus, both finished with a thick solid-wood edge with rounded corners and protected by a transparent water-based matt coat. If you prefer colour, the tops come lacquered or in FENIX, matched tone-on-tone with the legs.
Can Hito storage keep a boardroom's cabling out of sight?
That is what the meeting credenzas are for: the central front panel lifts away to reveal a technical compartment where cables and power live. Doors close automatically on steel hinges, open with a Push-Pull touch, and can take a removable-barrel lock on request.
What documentation supports a Hito specification in the UK?
Materials are declared compliant with UNI EN standards and 100% of production is CARB 2 certified for formaldehyde emissions. La Mercanti assembles the finish schedule and compliance sheets for your project file, and physical samples are charged then fully credited on order confirmation.

Specifying Hito for a UK executive floor, step by step

A practical sequence for facilities teams and design practices weighing the Rizzini system for a directors' office — from surface chemistry to the paperwork.

Start from the surface, not the shape
Decide first between living veneer and technical FENIX: walnut and eucalyptus age as wood does, FENIX self-heals micro-scratches and hides fingerprints. Everything else — legs, storage, tables — follows the top you choose.
Choose fixed or rising frame
Both share Rizzini's design language, but the motorised version adds four synchronised columns with anti-collision sensors. If the office doubles as a working studio rather than a stage, the rising frame earns its place.
Set the colour logic
Collection 024 lets legs and top share one shade across two materials — the tone-on-tone route — or you can ground a walnut top on Metal legs in Bronze, Pewter or Olive Brown. Pick one logic and let the credenzas follow it.
Plan storage by ceremony
A 73.5 cm credenza serves coffee and papers; the 146.5 cm version becomes the office archive; the meeting credenza hides the room's cabling behind its removable panel. Map what the room hosts before ordering doors.
Close the compliance file early
Download the UNI EN and CARB 2 documentation from the article page and attach the finish schedule before sign-off — approvals move faster when the file arrives complete.
