Most boardroom tables give a meeting one power point and let fourteen people negotiate over it. Corniche is built the other way round: every seat has its own electrical box, fourteen of them, matching the fourteen leather inserts set flush into the top. Nobody trails a cable across the table to reach the one live socket.

The engineering behind that promise is in the base, which is a cabinet already prepared for cable runs, and in the cable ports themselves, covered in the same saddle leather as the writing pads. The table measures 600 by 240 cm at a working height of 74, the top in veneered particleboard panels, walnut as standard. La Mercanti specifies it for boardrooms where the technology has to be present and invisible at the same time.

FAQ

Does every seat really have its own power?
Yes. The datasheet states that each of the fourteen positions is fitted with an electrical box, which is why the number recurs across the whole table: fourteen seats, fourteen leather inserts, fourteen boxes.
How does the cabling reach the boxes?
Through the base, which is a cabinet already prepared for cable passage. The cables themselves are not supplied, so the riser point from the floor is agreed with whoever builds the electrical installation.
Are the cable ports left as bare metal rings?
They are covered in saddle leather, the same material as the writing pads. It is the detail that keeps a heavily serviced table looking like a piece of furniture rather than a workstation.
Can the top be specified in a colour?
The top is available in wood veneer only, veined black walnut as standard, with other finishes on request. There is no lacquered or leather-topped version of this table.
What is the finished working height?
Seventy-four centimetres, with the table at 600 by 240 cm overall. That height governs the armchairs that go under it, so it is worth fixing before the seating is chosen.

How to specify power on a fourteen-seat conference table

Five decisions that turn a large meeting table into a room that actually works on the day.

Count the live positions
Fourteen seats, fourteen electrical boxes. Confirm early that every position is required, because the number drives both the layout and the installation.
Agree the riser point
The base is prepared for cable passage but cables are not supplied. Fix where the feed comes up from the floor while the room is still on paper.
Keep the ports in leather
The cable ports are covered in saddle leather. Specify them as shown rather than substituting a metal grommet at the last minute.
Confirm the veneer
Veined black walnut is the standard. Anything else is a request to be made and approved on a sample before production starts.
Test the chair against the table
At 74 cm the table sets the rule for the seating. Bring the shortlisted armchairs to the same height before signing off the room.
