The price list gives Asymmetrical Meeting away in two columns that happen to match. The 380 cm (149.5 in) table weighs 380 kg (838 lb); the 450 cm (177.25 in) table weighs 450 kg (992 lb); only the 550 cm (216.5 in) breaks the pattern, at 581 kg (1,281 lb). A kilo per centimetre is what a 7.5 cm (2.95 in) solid top and two full bases come to when Tecno builds them, and it is worth knowing before anyone books the goods lift: the largest crate is 4.6 m³ (162 cu ft) and 720 kg (1,587 lb) packed. Piero Lissoni drew this collection of conference tables in 2006 with tops that are not quite rectangles, held in balance by two supports that are not quite the same, and the weight is the honest price of that balance.

Under the numbers is a family. Three rectangular formats in two heights, 75 or 67 cm (29.5 or 26.5 in); two ovals, Ø230 and Ø300 cm (90.5 and 118 in), standing on a cylinder set off-centre; two round tables, Ø160 and Ø180 cm (63 and 71 in), with a single top and no metal frame. Tops come lacquered, matt or gloss, in fourteen named colours, or in wood from six oaks to zebrano; the lacquered bases may match the top or not. The Asymmetrical executive desks with their side cabinet and the small Solenoids side tables complete the range. For British boardrooms La Mercanti writes the packed weight of Asymmetrical Meeting on the quotation next to the code, so that the lift, the floor and the crew are booked for the same number.

FAQ

What is the top made of and how thick is it?
Tecno declares the finish rather than the core: a lacquered or wood-veneered top 7.5 cm (2.95 in) thick, with the irregular sections marked by an aluminium joint. On the Asymmetrical desk the top is 7 cm (2.75 in); the meeting table carries the extra half centimetre because its span runs to five and a half metres.
Are the ovals also arranged for electrification?
The Ø300 cm (118 in) oval is: its top opens onto the pre-fitted boxes like the rectangular tables. The Ø230 cm (90.5 in) oval and the two round tables of Ø160 and Ø180 cm (63 and 71 in) are not, so an Asymmetrical Meeting for eight with power at every seat is a rectangular or a Ø300.
What colours are the lacquers?
Fourteen, each with a name in the price list: White, Black, Chalk, Clay, Powder, Terracotta, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Burgundy, Swamp, Forest and Sea blue, all in matt or gloss. The base of Asymmetrical Meeting takes the same fourteen and does not have to match the top.
Which references does Tecno declare?
Two, in the captions of its catalogue: the Axa offices in Madrid and a pharmaceutical company in Rome, both furnished with Asymmetrical. La Mercanti quotes them as the manufacturer prints them, without adding projects the catalogue does not show.
Has the design changed since 2006?
No. Piero Lissoni drew Asymmetrical Meeting for Tecno in 2006 and the current price list carries the same formats and the same construction; what has changed since are the wood veneers and the electrical accessories, which follow their suppliers' catalogues.

How to measure a boardroom for Asymmetrical Meeting

Five measurements to take before choosing a size of Asymmetrical Meeting, because the bases do not sit where a symmetric table would put them.

Start from the drawing, not the perimeter
Tecno prints on its drawings that Asymmetrical Meeting has no regular shapes: the bases stand 225.6, 263.1 or 341.6 cm (88.8, 103.6 or 134.5 in) apart and off-centre. Lay the drawing on the plan first.
Leave the walking room
From the widest point of the Asymmetrical Meeting top to the wall allow 90 cm (35.4 in) on every side where people sit, and more on the side that faces the door.
Check the door and the lift with the crate
The 550 cm (216.5 in) table travels in one crate of 4.6 m³ (162 cu ft) at 720 kg (1,587 lb); measure the lift and the corridor for the crate, not for the table.
Mark where the cables come up
The floor outlet must sit under one of the two bases of Asymmetrical Meeting, because the cables rise inside them; draw the base footprint on the plan and place the outlet within it.
Send the plan with the size
La Mercanti checks the plan against the Tecno drawing of the chosen Asymmetrical Meeting and confirms the size, the height and the base positions before the order line is written.
