Read the Pedrali price list closely and one line changes how a Social layout is drawn: the curved modules are not freestanding, and must be combined on both sides with linear modules. The 45°, 60° and 90° pieces are joints, not chairs. So a bend in a waiting area is never one item on the order: it is a curve with a straight run either side of it, and the 90° module alone measures 1500 mm (59 in) and weighs 28.3 kg (62.4 lb) — as much as a whole two seater.

Everything else in the family answers to that one line: fourteen linear modular codes from 1190 to 2490 mm (46 7/8 to 98 in), a back-to-back island, a turning tablet, a connecting plate, and alongside them Social Plus, 770 mm (30 3/8 in) deep instead of 660 (26 in), with a feather cushion of its own. For UK and export projects La Mercanti prices the straight runs first and the curves last, because the curves decide how many straight modules the room will need.

When it is the right choice

  • Waiting areas that have to bend around a wall: 45°, 60° and 90° modules share the seat height of the straight runs.
  • Contract projects judged on test data: twelve EN 1728 clauses at level L2 of EN 16139, stability to EN 1022.
  • Buildings where access is tight: every module is one knocked-down package, from 0.31 to 0.86 m³ (10.9 to 30.4 cu ft).

When another solution suits better

  • If the room needs single chairs that move: curved modules are not freestanding and linear ones start at 1190 mm → Designer Chairs
  • If people sit at a table there: the declared seat height is 410 mm → Meeting Room Chairs

FAQ

How is the system tested for public use?
Pedrali declares twelve clauses of EN 1728:2012 assessed at level L2 of EN 16139:2013, the level the corner module sheet describes as extreme, including a combined seat and back fatigue test of 200,000 cycles. Stability is declared to EN 1022:2005 on the product page. The declarations belong to the manufacturer and are confirmed project by project on its documentation.
Which cushion is available, and for which line?
The genuine feather cushion DSO2.3 measures 540 × 320 × 170 mm (21 1/4 × 12 5/8 × 6 3/4 in), weighs 0.7 kg (1.5 lb) and is supplied in pairs. It is listed under Social Plus, not under Social. Anything loose on a Social module is therefore specified separately, and La Mercanti writes it on its own order line.
What finishes does the frame come in?
Two families: powder coating, with NERO, BI100, GI100, AR200, SA200 and VE300 printed on the product sheet, and polished aluminium LU. The full colour range sits in the manufacturer's finishes legend, which La Mercanti sends with the proposal so that frame and fabric are chosen at the same time.
How much of the sofa comes back at the end?
For the DSO_3L, weighed at 39.49 kg (87.1 lb), Pedrali declares 17.1% recycled content at origin and 61.5% recyclable at end of life. Steel, die-cast aluminium, polypropylene, multilayer and technopolymer are each listed as recyclable; the foam and the fabric are not.
How does it arrive on site?
Knocked down, one piece per package, between 0.31 and 0.86 m³ (10.9 to 30.4 cu ft) depending on the module. Cardboard is 100% FSC recycled and the bags carry at least 35% recycled plastic. Pedrali requires assembly by specialist fitters following its instructions, and La Mercanti books them with the delivery.

How to take delivery of a Social order and unpack it properly

Every Social module travels knocked down, one piece per package. What to check at the tailgate and in which order to open the boxes, so nothing is signed for that cannot be sent back.

Count the packages against the codes
Each Social module is one package, so the count on the delivery note should match the number of codes ordered. A four seater DSO_4L is a single 0.59 m³ (20.8 cu ft) box, not three.
Check the cartons before signing
Photograph every carton at the tailgate, before it comes off the lorry, and write any damage on the delivery note before you sign it. Photographs and note are what La Mercanti needs to take the claim up with Pedrali; a clean signature closes the door.
Open the legs first
The die-cast aluminium legs and the steel crossbars travel with the module. Unpack them first: they tell you immediately whether the frame finish matches the order, powder coated or polished.
Keep the packaging until assembly ends
Authorised returns must travel in their original packaging, so nothing goes to the skip until the last Social module stands on its feet and the covers have been inspected in daylight.
Hand the fitters the layout
Pedrali asks for assembly by specialist fitters following its instructions; La Mercanti quotes the fitting team with the delivery on request and hands them the plan with the position of every curved module marked, so the run is built in the right order.
