Every good library knows the trick: seat people side by side, give them the window, and the room goes quiet. Alea Office designs that geometry into a desk. The Itube linear bench takes users on one side only, runs from 240 to 600 cm at a depth of 80 or 90, and is meant — the technical sheet says so — for rows facing a window or a wall, for universities and libraries as much as offices. The curved steel tube that gives the collection its name carries the top without visual noise, and pinnable screens or a felt curtain can mark territories when the row fills up.

Designed by Mirto Antonel, Itube then turns around and becomes a double-sided bench, meeting tables in five shapes, a manager's desk, a return unit. La Mercanti has furnished study rooms and workplaces with the same care for decades, and quotes the whole row as one project. Some of the best desks have always faced a window.

FAQ

Can you actually pin things to the Itube screens?

Yes — both faces are pinnable. Each screen is a sandwich of 12 mm composite wood, 8 mm of pinnable sponge per side and fabric, 30 mm in total. Front screens screw to the top; lateral ones just rest on circular metal supports with non-slip rubber.

What runs above the desks on an Itube bench?

An arched structure in two heights, 69.4 or 40 cm. The taller one carries the felt curtain, side shelves in HPL or composite wood, storage trays and magnetic LED bars; the lower one keeps the bench visually light.

Which surface families does the Itube collection offer?

Three registers: 21 melamine finishes including serigraphed rippled whites and greys, six Fenix colours from white to Fes blue, and epoxy frame colours — smooth or textured — that reach copper and nugget gold. Felt and screen fabrics add textile tones.

Is there test documentation behind Itube?

Alea states that its products undergo performance testing at accredited laboratories, and copies of the test reports or conformity attestations are available on request — useful material for specifications and tenders.

What exactly is Multy?

A complement to the collection: one essential frame that becomes a coat stand, TV support, whiteboard holder or plant holder, with or without castors. In practice it follows the bench around as needs change.

How to plan a meeting corner with Itube tables

Five shapes, one collection: choosing the right Itube table for the way your meetings actually run.

Name the meeting first

Stand-ups, interviews, project reviews: each format has its own table. Write down the longest meeting you host before choosing a shape.

Match the shape to the talk

Round and square tables level the hierarchy; rectangular and oval seat more people; the free-form top softens formal rooms. Itube offers all five.

Check the clearances

Chairs need to slide back and people need to walk behind them: measure the room with movement in mind, not just the tabletop.

Wire it before it arrives

PVC grommets, aluminium top access or the double-opening flip top on request: decide where power surfaces before the table is built.

Order the room as one

Table, screens and lighting travel better as a single specification: La Mercanti confirms the whole configuration in writing with the offer.
