Most office systems are named after an idea. 20.Venti is named after a dimension: the steel frame and legs measure 20 by 20 millimetres, and 967arch built the entire system on the discipline of that section. Two centimetres of matt powder-coated steel are what hold up a desk meant to be worked at eight hours a day, on a task chair to match — which is precisely why the number is worth putting on the badge.

A section that thin changes what you see across an open plan: the structure draws lines instead of occupying volume, and MDF Italia describes the result as a play on the contrast between solids and voids. On top sits a matt Fenix NTM or melamine surface; along the side, an 8 mm lacquered open compartment.

These office workstations run from single desks at 160, 180 and 200 cm to double and quadruple layouts, a high workstation and the lighter 20.Venti Light, with the compact Home versions alongside. La Mercanti takes British fit-outs from the finish board to the installed floor.

FAQ

Which layouts does the system cover?
Single desks, double and quadruple workstations, a high workstation and flexible configurations designed for teams that change shape; the Light version combines the same single, double and quadruple stations in a more essential form.
What is the open compartment made of?
Matt lacquered fibreboard, 8 mm thick, available in white, dune, burgundy, English green and navy blue — the colour is seen mostly from the side of the desk.
Are there versions for home offices?
Yes: 20.Venti Home and Home Light are the compact versions, with oak veneered tops. MDF Italia also indicates them for libraries, hotels, schools and colleges.
Which surfaces are available for the tops?
Matt Fenix NTM laminate in white, light grey, medium grey and black, or matt melamine in white, light grey and black, both on medium density fibreboard panels.
How is the desk cleaned day to day?
With a soft cloth dampened with water or a neutral detergent, avoiding any liquid seeping between the top and the structure — the point the manufacturer highlights.

How to plan an open-plan floor with 20.Venti

Five steps for facility managers and designers laying out desks for a team that will not stay the same size.

Count the people, then the desks
Start from headcount and working patterns rather than from square metres: single, double and quadruple stations answer different team habits.
Fix one width across the floor
160, 180 or 200 cm: choosing a single width keeps the grid regular and makes later additions land without redrawing anything.
Decide where the screens go
Sound-absorbing screens belong where conversation crosses concentration, not on every desk — map the noisy axes first.
Assign the accessories per role
Cable spring, under-top tray, PC stand on castors, stationery holder: equip by what each person actually does, not uniformly.
Close the specification in writing
Confirm widths, finishes and accessory list through La Mercanti at order stage: production starts from that document.
