Most executive desks ask the room to adapt. X9 does the opposite: every desk-with-return composition exists in a right-hand and a left-hand version, at every length. Door on the wrong side, window behind the chair, meeting table already in place — the return simply moves to the other flank, and the load-bearing pedestal with its multi-purpose box moves with it.
Designed by Gabriel & Polloni Associati for Quadrifoglio, X9 pairs a generous veneered top — grey elm, American walnut or striped ebony — with a steel frame and an optional leather-effect inlay finished with tone-on-tone stitching. Compositions with return measure 172 to 232 cm in width over a 234 cm depth, so the working side and the service side share one continuous surface.
The range also includes freestanding desks, modular meeting tables and coffee tables in the same veneers, for boardrooms that grow over time. La Mercanti checks the handedness against your floor plan before the order is placed — the drawing decides, and it only decides once.

Tops: 18 mm (0.7 in) MDF core with 0.6 mm wood veneer, folding-worked longitudinal edges forming a 50 mm (2 in) band from a single piece, 1 mm wood lipping, radiused corners, open-pore matt transparent lacquer; panel density 720/790 kg/m³.
Finishes: grey elm, American walnut, striped ebony veneers; optional leather-effect inlay, 1.3 mm (0.05 in), in red, anthracite, brown or black with tone-on-tone decorative stitching.
Frame: epoxy powder-coated pickled steel, matt white or umbra grey; leg with cross-section growing from 30 × 32 mm to 63 × 56.2 mm (1.2 × 1.3 to 2.5 × 2.2 in), 4 mm plate; fixed beam 45 × 30 mm; levelling feet with 0–7 mm (0–0.3 in) adjustment.
Multi-purpose box: veneered or matt-lacquered, with top cable compartment behind an aluminium flap, lower shelf for bags and CPU, 3-drawer pedestal plus stationery drawer; outer back in veneer, lacquer or anti-fingerprint metal.
Mobile pedestal: 45.4 × 58.5 × H 58.2 cm (17.9 × 23 × 22.9 in), recessed Ø 52 mm (2 in) castors, full-extension ball-bearing runners with soft-close and anti-tip system.
Accessories: plain or milled veneered modesty panel, one-side-release cable grid, spiral cable spine extending 180–1100 mm (7–43 in), electrifiable sharing totem for meeting tables, cable trays, Ø 60 mm (2.4 in) grommets.
Declared tests: EN 527-1 and EN 527-2 (dimensions, safety, information for use), EN 1730 (static loads, fatigue, impact, drop, stability, top deflection), certified at the San Giovanni al Natisone laboratory.
Sustainability: panels made from 100% recycled wood, CATAS Quality Award CARB certification, resins free of SVHC substances (ECHA list); Quadrifoglio operates under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FSC and Pannello Ecologico.
