Britain has been talking about the round table for eight centuries or so — as a legend, then as a metaphor for meetings where rank stays at the door. Metar takes the idea at face value: within one executive collection, the round tables at ø 120 and 160 cm sit as equals beside the executive desk, drawn by the same hands — Gianantonio Perin and Giorgio Topan for Bralco's EXE line.

The equality is material, not just geometric. The rounds wear the same seven oak finishes — Carbon to tobacco — the same matt back-lacquered tempered glass, the same ecomalta mineral surface, the same shadow grey or pink copper metal as the 220-240 cm director's desk with its stitched leather insert and integrated wiring. Nothing in the room outranks anything else by finish.

And when the agenda does call for a long boardroom table, Metar scales without changing accent: 280, 360 or 440 cm, depths to 140, plus sideboards, bookcase towers to 270,6 cm and a continuous wall panelling system from 58 to 308 cm wide. La Mercanti configures each Metar boardroom against Bralco's official abacus — so the legend, for once, arrives with a parts list.

FAQ

Does Metar really include round meeting tables?
Yes — two of them, ø 120 and ø 160 cm at 75 cm height, in the same finishes as the executive desk. The format that British meeting culture keeps invoking as a metaphor is, here, an order code.
Who designed the Metar collection?
Gianantonio Perin and Giorgio Topan, for Bralco's EXE executive systems line — the Treviso manufacturer's executive range. The duo signs the whole family, from the desk to the wall panelling.
What makes the desk itself distinctive?
Three declared details: a leather insert stitched into the top, integrated wiring, and a collection-specific handle that repeats across sideboards and cabinets. The desk runs 220 to 240 cm long and a full metre deep, at fixed 75 cm height.
How far does the storage system go?
From low units at 40 and 51 cm up to bookcase towers of 270,6 cm on a 38,4 cm vertical module, plus sideboards in three lengths and a continuous boiserie from 58 to 308 cm wide. One language from floor to ceiling.
Which surfaces can be specified?
Seven oaks — including Carbon and tobacco — matt lacquers, ecomalta mineral surface, matt back-lacquered tempered glass in four shades, and metalwork in shadow grey or pink copper. The rounds and the long tables share the entire palette.

Running meetings at a round table: making the format actually work

For directors and office managers rethinking the meeting room: five practical moves to get the equality the round table promises — with the furniture doing half the job.

Match the diameter to the conversation
Four to six people work at ø 120; eight fit at ø 160 without raising voices. Beyond that, honesty helps: switch to the long table rather than crowd the circle.
Keep the finishes rank-free
Specify the round in exactly the desk's finish — same oak, same metal. The moment the meeting table looks cheaper than the desk, the geometry stops working.
Give the wall the paperwork
A sideboard at 60,6 or 74 cm beside the round keeps agendas, cables and trays off the table. The circle stays clear; the meeting stays short.
Plan the long-table days
Board approvals and signings still want the 280, 360 or 440 cm format. Placing round and long table in adjoining rooms — same collection, two protocols — covers the whole calendar.
Order it as one drawing
Have the full room read against Bralco's official abacus before committing — diameters, finishes, panelling widths. La Mercanti runs that check on every Metar project, so the legend arrives measured.
