Most price lists tell you what a desk costs. The Fattore Alpha list also tells you where its aluminium ends: the painted side profiles are a single continuous piece up to 240 cm (94.5 in), and beyond that length Archiutti delivers two jointed bars. It is a plain manufacturing fact, printed in the technical notes, and it says more about the system than any adjective — the frame is an extrusion, and an extrusion has a length.

Around that frame, designed by ambostudio and Grazia Azzolin, the collection covers the whole office in one language: executive desks of 200 or 220 cm (78.7 or 86.6 in) on legs or with one or two side panels, the managerial station the catalogue calls semi-executive, operative desks from 120 to 200 cm (47.2 to 78.7 in), benches for two, four or six, meeting tables up to 320 cm (126 in) and low tables at 42 cm (16.5 in). Tops sit inside the frame in melamine, walnut or cooked-oak veneer, enamelled glass or Fenix.

When a Fattore Alpha layout needs a run longer than 240 cm, La Mercanti marks the joint on the drawing before you see it on the floor.

FAQ

Is there a managerial version between executive and operative?
Yes. The catalogue calls it the semi-executive station and shows it with a white top and a shiny anodised structure, placed next to the meeting table. It shares the frame, the tops and the finishes of the executive desks, so a management floor and a boardroom read as one collection.
Can the executive desk have a glass top on every structure?
No. The price list offers the metallized enamelled glass top on the leg version only; the versions with one or two side panels come in white melamine, Canaletto walnut, cooked oak veneer or Fenix. It is worth deciding the structure before the finish.
What happens to a Fenix top that gets scratched?
Archiutti describes Fenix as a smart material with a matt surface, soft to the touch, that can be repaired from superficial scratches. It is available in Bianco Kos and Nero Ingo and is one of the five executive finishes.
Which screens separate the benches for four or six?
A central divider runs along the bench in one of three materials: etched glass, melamine or fabric. Fabrics come in band A plain colours and band B melange, and the catalogue also shows a divider with a blackboard-effect panel.
Does the Multilinea service unit belong to this collection?
It belongs to two. The Multilinea unit, with a compartment for the CPU, is designed for Float Office and for Fattore Alpha, and Archiutti asks you to specify on the order which desk it will serve. Its 18 mm structure comes in white or anthracite with customisable fronts.

How to deliver Fattore Alpha into an office that is still working

Executive desks and benches arriving on a floor where people keep working: the sequence that keeps the disruption to one afternoon.

Count the packages with Fattore Alpha in mind
A single Fattore Alpha operative desk arrives in four packages; ask La Mercanti for the package list of the full order, so the goods lift and the corridor are booked for the real volume.
Reserve a clean assembly area
Choose one room where frames are assembled and tops fitted, away from desks in use: the aluminium frame is built on site and needs a floor free of cables and boxes.
Sequence the rooms by occupancy
Start with the meeting room and the empty offices, finish with the workstations people are sitting at, moving each team for the shortest possible window.
Protect the finished pieces
Keep the packaging on veneer and glass tops until the room is closed to traffic; the corners are already protected by the frame, the surfaces are not.
Walk the floor before signing
Check every desk with the installer, adjust the feet on uneven floors and confirm the cable trays are fitted before the team sits down.
