Most contract chairs reference standards; the Cila family gets tested against them. The technical sheets list 30 Cila models and 17 Cila Go models — 47 in all — certified by TUV GS to EN 16139:2013 at level L2, extreme use: the tier the standard reserves for night clubs, police stations, sports changing rooms and barracks. A chair bought for a classroom or a meeting room, certified for environments far rougher than either.

What carries that certification is a family designed by Lievore Altherr: Cila (2017), the enveloping polypropylene shell on five bases from solid oak legs to a castor trestle, and Cila Go (2018), the learning-sector system of seat, storage base on castors and optional HPL tablet — 50 × 33.5 cm (19.7 × 13.2 in) — on a swivelling arm. Meeting rooms, classrooms, waiting areas, task and visitor seating, home offices: one silhouette throughout. For UK projects, La Mercanti assembles the model list room by room, with delivery times confirmed in writing at order confirmation.

FAQ

When is Cila the right pick, and when Cila Go?
Cila covers meeting rooms, waiting, visitor and home settings on five static or swivel bases; Cila Go adds what a classroom needs — storage base on castors, gas-lift five-spoke versions and the optional writing tablet. Same shell language, two jobs.
What can actually live inside the storage base?
Arper declares it as the storage element of a mobile seat-storage-tablet system: the polypropylene container travels with the chair on castors, so course material and personal items move together with the seat.
How is the faux leather cushion cleaned?
With a cloth dampened in lukewarm water — the simplest care routine in the whole family, and one reason the faux-leather option suits intensive teaching spaces.
How big is the writing tablet?
50 × 33.5 cm (19.7 × 13.2 in) in HPL, with top and swivelling arm supplied in the same colour as the base — declared for the five-spoke versions of both shell types.
How should the solid oak base be maintained?
With a solution of water and neutral soap and a soft white cloth, working in circular movements; commercial stain removers, solvents and abrasives are expressly excluded.

How to get a room ready for its Cila Go delivery day

Five preparations in the week before the truck arrives — so the fleet goes from boxes to first lesson in a single morning.

Settle the outgoing chairs first
Decide where the old chairs go — internal reuse or the collection centre, components separated by material as the sheet asks — before the new Cila Go arrive.
Measure the route in
Walk the path from goods entrance to the room with a tape: doors, corners and lift cars set the pace of delivery day.
Note the floors
Record which rooms have carpet and which hard flooring: the castors are declared for both, but the note belongs in the order file.
Print the room plan
Give the delivery team one sheet with quantities and positions per room: paper beats memory in a corridor full of boxes.
Unbox next door
Open the packaging in an adjacent room so dust never reaches the finished floor — and the Cila Go roll in ready to work.
