Arper's own sheet does not describe Leaf as a chair but as a manifesto: “an image simultaneously nostalgic and forward thinking”. Twenty years after Lievore Altherr Molina drew it, the sentence still holds. The silhouette in painted steel rod looks back to the great wire chairs of modernism and, at the same time, ahead — to interiors where a seat weighs little, stacks away and moves from the dining room to the terrace without changing language. The Leaf design chair family carries the idea through five ways of sitting — chair, stackable chair, lounge chair, chaise longue and stools at 64 and 74 cm (25.2 and 29.1 in) — plus tables at two heights with Compact HPL tops. La Mercanti puts the manifesto to work: in hospitality courtyards, collaborative corners, home offices and restaurant rooms, the same drawing serves as seat and as table.

FAQ

Which Leaf version stacks?
The stackable chair on sled base — one of the five seats of the family, declared stackable on the Arper sheet. Lounge chair, chaise longue and stools do not stack; they cover the slower side of the collection.
What finishes are available on the seats?
Four: chrome-finish steel plus three matt painted colours — V12 white, V37 green and V34 moka. For outdoor use the producer declares the painted finishes only.
What heights do the Leaf stools come in?
Two declared heights: 64 cm (25.2 in) and 74 cm (29.1 in), both in painted steel rod on sled base — one for kitchen counters, one for bar-height tops.
What is the table top made of?
Compact HPL in H01 grey on a painted steel frame: an ovaloid pebble-shaped top at 50 cm height, round tops of 79 or 100 cm and a 79×79 cm square at 74 cm height.
Can the chaise longue live outside all season?
Outdoor products are declared as made with special materials and treatments against sun and weathering; Arper still recommends regular cleaning and dry storage during long pauses. We flag the right routine on each project.

How to specify Leaf for a contract project

Five seat types, two table heights, one drawing. The steps below turn the Leaf family into a specification sheet.

List the rooms first
Map where Leaf will sit: dining room, terrace, lounge, café counter. The producer declares level L1 venues — hotels, restaurants, canteens, banks, bars — and a severe-use L2 tier.
Assign the seat types
Chairs and stackable chairs for meals and meetings, lounge and chaise longue for the slow corners, stools at 64 or 74 cm where the counter commands.
Split indoor from outdoor
For exterior positions specify Leaf in the painted finishes — white, green or moka; chrome stays indoors by declaration.
Add tables and cushions
Pair the seats with the H 50 low table or the H 74 dining tables in Compact HPL, and decide where the removable front cushions earn their place.
Close the sheet with La Mercanti
Send the room list and headcounts: the La Mercanti quotation comes back with seat types, finishes and cushions already itemised per room.
