Few plastic design chairs can quote four independent panels. Arper's Juno collected the Red Dot Product Design Award and — telling for British interiors — the Design Guild Mark, both in 2013, followed by the ADI Design Index selection and the Interior Innovation Award in 2014. Juno 02 is that recognised silhouette reborn: the same slim, essential line by James Irvine, now moulded in recycled polypropylene from post-industrial waste, in a palette drawn from the natural world.

The collection keeps its choices legible. A four-leg chair with an open backrest; a restyled version with armrests; both available in exposed plastic or with a seat cushion applied without glue for indoor comfort, plus a removable cushion made for outdoor use. Every version stacks, and the glides that suit different floorings come as standard. From the meeting table to the courtyard café, from home office to teaching rooms, one chair answers — and La Mercanti delivers it worldwide with fabric samples ahead of the order.

FAQ

Indoor pad or outdoor cushion — which goes where?
The indoor seat pad is applied without glue and can be upholstered in fabric, leather, coated fabric or your own material; the outdoor cushion is a removable accessory, made in fabric or customer's fabric only, designed to be taken in and dried after weather.
Can the seat cushion be specified in leather for outside use?
No — leather belongs to the indoor pad only. For open-air settings Arper declares a removable cushion in fabric or customer's fabric; leather and coated fabric stay on the indoor versions.
How does Juno 02 differ from the original Juno of 2012?
The silhouette James Irvine drew in 2012 remains; Juno 02 re-executes it in polypropylene made at seventy percent with post-industrial recycled material, thanks to a redesigned mould, with a new palette inspired by the natural world and a restyled armrest version.
Does the same chair work for both home and contract projects?
Arper declares the collection for residential and contract settings alike — hospitality spaces, meeting and teaching rooms, home office and outdoor dining — so one reference can run through a whole project.
How should the polypropylene shell be cleaned?
With a soft cloth or sponge dampened in warm water or well-diluted neutral detergent, moving in circles; commercial stain removers, solvent-based cleaners and abrasives are excluded by the care sheet.

How to specify Juno 02 for a hospitality project

Five decisions take Juno 02 from a shortlist to a signed specification for restaurants, hotels and mixed indoor-outdoor venues.

Map the rooms first
List where the chair will serve — dining room, terrace, meeting corner — and mark which positions live outdoors, because that decides cushions and care routines.
Choose open shell or cushioned
Exposed polypropylene where turnover is high and cleaning must be fast; the glue-free seat pad where guests linger over the table.
Settle the armrest question
The restyled armrest version keeps the silhouette while using less material — count how many positions genuinely need elbow support before ordering.
Pick colours against the interior
Set the six nature-drawn tones next to floor and wall samples in daylight; a chair this essential reads mostly through its colour.
Write the certificate into the spec
Quote the GS certification to EN 16139:2013 level L2 in the tender line, so the extreme-use rating travels with the order.
