Arper's page hands designers a sentence to work with: the minimal form and soft upholstery of Mixu are “an ideal canvas for material expression”. The canvas is literal. On this fully upholstered chair the seat takes Elmosoft leather or Valencia coated fabric, and the backrest can answer with a different material from the Arper portfolio — or with the client's own. Born in 2021 from the collaboration with Gensler and renewed in the 2025 edition, the design chair extends into counter and bar stools with declared seat heights of 69.5 and 79.5 cm (27.4 and 31.3 in), on four-legged bases in chromed or powder-coated steel or solid oak. Everything holds without glue, so the upholstery can be separated and replaced over the years. La Mercanti paints on this canvas across restaurants, hotel floors, collaborative areas and home offices — one drawing, many fabrics.
