The longest Toa is 610 cm (240.2 in) of top on one name: two solid laminate slabs joined on a single frame, 130 cm (51.2 in) deep, 207 kg (456 lb) with the 12 mm (0.47 in) top. What the environmental table on the spec sheet gives away is how Pedrali makes six metres stay flat: under the aluminium you can see there are 47.9 kg (105.6 lb) of steel you cannot, 23 per cent of the whole table, holding the two halves in line. The bridge legs that Robin Rizzini drew — cast aluminium, thin at the floor and opening into a T under the top — carry the load down; the steel carries it across. Nobody at the table needs to know that, which is rather the point.
The same legs run the whole family. The plain table comes in seven sizes, from 190 × 75 cm (74.8 × 29.5 in) up to 360 × 125 cm (141.7 × 49.2 in), with three cable options on the 300 and 360; the conference version stops at 519 (204.3 in) and 610 cm; the desk measures 240 × 90 cm (94.5 × 35.4 in) and carries an off-centre cable slot; the workstation seats two or four with sound-absorbing dividers; the outdoor edition uses exterior laminates and an E-coded frame; and the Toa Folding Screen sits on the top and folds into a U, an S or an L. La Mercanti quotes the boardroom version with the crate volume on the line — 1.21 m³ (42.7 cu ft) — so the goods lift is booked before the two halves arrive.
