Valerio Sommella: 2009, the year he stopped drawing for others

Valerio Sommella, Milan industrial designer of the Inca office collection

Independence has a date. Valerio Sommella graduated from the design school of the Politecnico di Milano and spent his first working years inside other people's studios, between Milan and Amsterdam. In 2009 the name on the door became his own. He now teaches at international design institutes and draws for Italian and global brands, from tableware to lighting.

His office collection Inca for i4Mariani builds desks, meeting tables and cabinets out of one geometric rule. La Mercanti specifies it where an executive floor has to look designed, not assembled.
