1988: a design professor walks into Tecno, Luca Scacchetti

In 1988 Tecno handed its executive line to an architect who also taught industrial design. Luca Scacchetti, born in Milan in 1952 and later head of the architecture department at the Istituto Europeo di Design, answered with Ianus: desks, meeting tables, cabinets, bookcases and panelling, all held together by a moulded solid wood frame.

He had built airports, hotels and city blocks before he ever drew a desk, and the collection keeps that architectural grid. La Mercanti places Ianus on executive floors, together with the Wing armchairs he designed for i4Mariani.
