«Flying has given us the bird's eye view»: Claudio Bellini's vantage point
Ask Claudio Bellini what he dreams of and the answer is not a chair: a flight in a glider, then a spaceship, because - as Le Corbusier put it - «flying has given us the bird's eye view, an invaluable vantage point from which we can observe the world at large». The Milanese architect and designer, a former competitive yachtsman, has led a practice under his own name since 1996; it works across product, furniture and interior design and advises companies on graphics, architecture and brand identity with a multinational team. The vantage point shows in the client list, which runs from Steelcase to Walter Knoll, from Artemide to Riva 1920, and in the awards - Red Dot, iF, Good Design - that Frezza cites in his profile.
For Frezza he has signed the DR executive system, the Fior di Loto chairs and the Russell sofa, and back in 1998 the TW Collection. La Mercanti brings DR to British boardrooms with the rest of the Frezza range, so the desk and the chairs at the same meeting share one author.
