Nobody reads instructions at a public fountain. A child, a cyclist, a tourist holding a bottle: each walks up, finds the one part that moves and gets water. Fantini says that AL/23 “recalls the basics of fountains”, and those basics have less to do with looks than with manners. The spout is where a hand expects it. A single lever sits above it. On the single-hole basin mixer the two are flat blades, one over the other, carried by a slim upright cylinder on a round foot.
Most designer taps are drawn to be looked at; this one, which Piero Lissoni designed for Fantini’s Aboutwater collection with Boffi, was drawn around being used. The body is brass, in chrome or in matt black. At the basin it comes as a single-hole mixer, as a two-hole set with the spout and its control standing apart, or as a mixer rising from the floor beside a freestanding basin, its spout reaching 17 cm (6.7 in). Whichever goes into an executive bathroom, the handle is part of the supply and never an extra.
The other pieces are easiest to sort by where the water arrives from. Out of the wall: concealed shower mixers with one, two or three outlets, a thermostatic valve, a round rain head 24 cm (9.4 in) wide on its arm, a side spray, the pencil-thin FIT hand shower on its hose, and a bath mixer with a 19 cm (7.5 in) spout. Up through the rim: the bidet mixer, its aerator on a swivel, and a deck-mounted bath set whose arched spout stands tall between low cylindrical controls. Up from the floor: a bath filler with a 20 cm (7.9 in) spout. Wastes and a bottle trap follow in the same two finishes, flush plates in matt black or polished stainless steel. La Mercanti goes through the drawings basin by basin and names the AL/23 version each one calls for.

5 litres a minute at 3 bar (1.3 US gpm). Fantini fits a flow limiter set to that figure on every basin and bidet mixer in the series, deck-mounted or on the wall, and the aerator is built into the spout.
Yes. The series includes a floor-standing basin mixer with a single lever and a spout projecting 17 cm (6.7 in). It is supplied in two parts, the visible mixer and a concealed body, each under its own code; La Mercanti orders them as a pair.
The aerator: on the bidet mixer it swivels. Otherwise the AL/23 bidet mixer is a single-hole, single-lever piece with a spout projecting 11 cm (4.3 in), connected through flexible hoses.
It does. Among the coordinated fittings are a 1″1/4 bottle trap and a pair of filters with a built-in stop, which can be opened for inspection. Both come in chrome and in matt black, like the taps.
Yes: Fantini lists a WC hand spray in the series, supplied with its own stop valve, a holder and a brass hose 120 cm (47 in) long. La Mercanti adds it to the order where the project asks for one.
AL/23 reaches the bath from the wall, the rim or the floor. Five steps to settle which, beginning with a count of the holes on the edge of the bath.
Fantini offers four positions: an exposed mixer on the wall, a concealed set in the wall, a deck set on the rim and a filler on the floor. Each one comes with the FIT hand shower.
The full deck set needs five holes in the rim of the bath and has a 16 cm (6.3 in) spout, two handles, a push-button diverter and the FIT hand shower. Its connections are 3/4″.
It is for the spout. Fantini makes the same deck set on four holes without one; separately, the series has bath waste columns with a filling function through the overflow.
On the wall, the exposed mixer has a single lever, a 19 cm (7.5 in) spout and a push-button diverter. The concealed set has two handles and a rotary diverter, and can be ordered with the spout or without.
The floor-standing version has a 20 cm (7.9 in) spout and one handle that opens, closes and sets both flow and temperature. The installer receives it as an external part plus a concealed part.
