A speciality-coffee bar in Florence chose it: Manta by Quinti, the waiting armchair of Ditta Artigianale

Quinti’s project pages name a handful of installations, and one of them is not an office at all: Ditta Artigianale, a bar in Florence built around speciality coffee, which in 2022 chose the manufacturer’s furniture for its meeting spaces. Manta is on that list, next to Olga, Pat and Bista. An armchair sold for waiting areas has already sat in a room where people arrive, order, talk and leave.
Among the waiting room armchairs we supply from Quinti, Manta is the one Marco Cocco drew as a lounge seat: 80 cm square, 79 cm high, a seat 57 cm deep at 46 cm from the floor, foamed cold in polyurethane over a metal skeleton with elastic straps. Five bases carry the same shell: four tubular steel legs, a lattice frame on adjustable feet, painted wood in four tones, a four-spoke swivel base that returns to centre, and solid-oak rocker slides. A headrest can be fitted to any of them, and Quinti’s sheet assigns it to office and contract waiting areas and to the home.
It belongs in the break area and kitchenette, where the Florentine precedent makes the most sense, as well as in reception rows and hotel lounges. Around it sit a goose-feather quilted mat, a 100 × 100 cm table with a marble or wood top, and a version padded with 1IM-approved fire-retardant foams. La Mercanti asks whether the chair will face a counter or a window before choosing the base.

FAQ
Why is the rocking version of Manta deeper than the fixed one?
The rocker measures 95 cm front to back against 80 cm for every fixed base, while width, seat depth and seat height stay at 80, 57 and 46. The frame is painted white with natural oak slides or black with Moka-stained slides, and it weighs 20 kg like the tubular version. On a plan it is the only Manta that needs a rectangle.
Is the cushion a separate pad or part of the foam?
Quinti describes Manta as made of cold-foamed polyurethane, cushion included: the seat cushion belongs to the same construction rather than being a loose pad, and the data sheet adds that it is half polyurethane and half memory. Underneath sits a metal skeleton with elastic straps, the same on all five bases. A separate accessory, the goose-feather quilted mat X088C000, can be laid on top of the chair.
How much taller does the headrest make the chair?
Thirty-three centimetres: from 79 cm to 112 cm on the tubular, lattice and wood bases, from 81 to 114 on the swivel base and from 77 to 110 on the rocker. The footprint does not change and the weight rises by about 2 kg. The headrest is listed as applicable to all versions, so the choice can be made row by row rather than for the whole order.
What are the adjustable feet on the lattice base for?
Levelling. The X0881 base is a lattice of steel, chromed or painted matt black, and it stands on adjustable feet so the armchair can be set true on a floor that is not. Height and weight are the same as the four-leg version, 79 cm and 20 kg; what you gain is the open framework underneath and a chair that can be levelled with its own feet.
Does Manta have springs inside, or only foam?
The data sheet does not mention springs. What it describes is a metal skeleton inside the polyurethane, fitted with elastic support straps that the manufacturer adds to increase seat comfort: the straps are there, in the manufacturer’s words, to increase seat comfort. It is the same construction under every base, from the chromed tube to the oak rocker.
How to place a Manta order with Quinti, base by base and code by code
The sequence of choices behind a Manta order: base, headrest, finish, upholstery category and accessories, written so that the manufacturer has nothing left to ask before confirming.
Choose the Manta base first
Every Manta code starts with the base: X0880 for four tubular steel legs, X0881 for the lattice frame on adjustable feet, X0882 for painted wood, X0883 for the four-spoke swivel base, X0884 for the oak rocker. One line per base, with the quantity next to it.
Decide on the headrest
With the headrest the code ends in P: X0880NNP instead of X0880NN0. Quinti lists the headrest as applicable to every base, so the decision is made line by line, and it changes height and weight exactly as the data sheet shows for each version.
Name the finish
Each base has its own finishes: tube: chrome or black paint; lattice: chrome or matt black; wood: walnut or natural, Moka or open-pore black; aluminium: polished or black, natural oak with a white frame or Moka with a black frame for the rocker. The finish is part of the code.
Pick the upholstery category
Manta accepts categories 2 through 8, IM included. Put the cover’s name next to its category, remembering that Crepè, Pelle cat. 6 and Velluto Decontracté are not available on this chair, and specify the 1IM fire-retardant version where the site requires it.
Add the accessories
Two separate codes close the order: the goose-feather quilted mat X088C000, one per armchair where wanted, and the matching table X088TNN0 or X088TCR0, black or chromed frame, with the top stated as marble or one of the four wood finishes.
