Italian office furniture for projects worldwide

Executive, meeting, reception, acoustic and lounge collections from Italy's leading makers, one specialist from drawing to delivery.

Some projects need a supplier. Others need someone who knows the Italian factories by name, reads a specification the way the architect wrote it, and can bring eighty workstations, a boardroom and a reception counter to a site on another continent in one coordinated delivery. La Mercanti has been that specialist since 1997.

We select and supply executive desks, tables for meetings and boardrooms, reception counters, task and lounge seating, acoustic pods, partitions, outdoor and executive-bathroom collections from more than sixty manufacturers for companies, architects, designers and procurement teams worldwide. Browse and configure online, or send us a plan and receive one quotation for the whole project, with technical sheets and the makers' certifications for every item. Shipping is door to door and the export documentation is handled for you.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

See the true value of your furniture investment

The purchase price is only the beginning. An £ 2,000 desk can cost more than a £ 5,000 one over its lifecycle: durability, warranty and maintenance make the difference. Work out the true cost before you choose.

FAQ

Why does an office furniture site have a bathroom section?

Because our clients asked for it. When a floor is furnished from reception to boardroom, the last room left to someone else is the washroom, and it shows. So we brought the bathroom into the same specification, with Gessi brassware and Mutina ceramics beside the desks and the seating. One order, one shipment, one set of documents, and no seam between the boardroom and the room next to it.

Why buy through you rather than directly from the Italian factory?

Because a factory sells its own line to the trade, in its own language, with its own minimum quantities and its own truck. It does not put a Pedrali chair next to a Las desk, does not clear customs in your country and does not send one fitter for six brands. We do: the piece is the same original, with the maker's warranty, and the rest of the work, comparison, consolidation at our logistics hub on the Adriatic coast, export paperwork and one delivery, is what you are actually paying us for.

Do you sell to private individuals, or only to companies?

Both. Alongside companies, public bodies and design practices, a growing part of our export work is for private clients: a home office in London, a study in a residence abroad, a single armchair someone saw in Milan and wanted at home. The service is the same as for a corporate order: quotation in writing, door-to-door shipping and the maker's documentation, whatever the size.

You run 23 country sites: is the price the same everywhere?

The makers and the pieces are the same; the quotation is not, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. Each site quotes for its own destination: currency, transport, duties and taxes where they apply, installation if requested. What never changes is the way the quote is written, everything listed and the exclusions named, so a buyer in London and one in Sydney can compare like with like.

How to compare two office furniture quotations line by line

Five checks that turn two different documents into the same bill, before anyone signs.

Same delivery terms
Read the Incoterm or delivery clause first. Ex-works and door-to-door differ by the whole cost of freight, insurance and customs; nothing else compares until this does.
Same currency, same tax basis
Bring both to one currency at today's rate and check whether VAT or import duties are included, excluded or simply unmentioned. Silence is not zero.
What each line includes
Finish, size and version of every item, packaging removal, installation and its hours of access. A cheaper line is often a smaller line.
Lead time in writing
Look for the date that starts the clock: confirmation of finishes, not the quote. A lead time with no starting point is a hope.
Warranty and who answers
Whose warranty, for how long, and who you call when a crate arrives damaged. The quote that names a person is worth more than the one that saves a little.
